I received Last Days of the Grande Armee.
I'm reading the rules.
A first question : What is the definition of a woods hex?

Is it a hex completely filled with woods?
or
is it a hex wherein there are some woods?

I think it is important for the bombardment rule.

Thanks for your question. In general, it is helpful if you cite the rules section that is in question so that we can see the context. Only a Woods hexSIDE has any effect (see Terrain Effects Chart). A Woods hexside is one completely covered by woods.

You write only the woods hexside is important.

But :

Rule 11.51 G:
" If the bombarding artillery unit's hex is a woods hex, then the artillery unit in question may not bombard."

Rule 11.51 H :
" If the target unit's hex is a woods hex;....."

So, I repeat my question : What is a woods hex?
Must it be completely filled with woods?

A Woods hex for purposes of 11.51 is more than half covered by woods. 4115 is not a woods hex, 4113 is woods.

This solution can give discussions between players.
It is not always clear if a hex is filled with more or less than half woods.

Hi.

If you would care to submit a list of the ambiguous hexes here, I will be happy to answer. Or, you can take an afternoon to go and see for yourself...
