Hi Kevin,
Just playing the game and had a couple of issues arise:
1. There does not appear to be a counter for the unit "Kosinski" (Pol. militia) which appears as a reinforcement 4 Sept. at W0137. Is this errata or are we missing a unit already?
2. Rule [110.] of the Exclusive Rules states that when using the Administrative Point Pool, you "cross-reference the LOC distance between the army's Center of Operations and its Supply Source", while the Administrative Point Pool states that you use "the distance between (a) the Center of Operations and (b) an active Depot with an LOC, or the active Supply Source." We've used the APP wording rather than the rule text. Which is correct, the rule or the APP, or are they both correct and we're misreading something?
Regards, Mark :)

Mark,
Kosinski's counter was deleted! See below ...
COUNTER TWEAKS
Mas is working on implementing these now at final pre-film check. Let's hear it for our proofreader! (me!) Either that or let's flay the designer [:me:] for the number of changes after the m.s. stage! Nappy a '12' for the first time! Much bigger HQ staff in 1812 ...
#14. Kutuzov is misspelled 'Kuzutov' (Kuzutov was the general's dyslexic uncle)
#15. Switch Poniatowski leader with Supply Source Marker and make Poniatowski
RED (All his troops are...)
#16. Add a new Phase Marker (Fr. Eagle on one side, Rus. eagle on the other)
#17. Subordination Rating of cav unit Valence should be 1/2 [not '1'].
#18. Change name of French artillery to 'Lariboisiere' (instead of 'Artillery')
#19. Korff (IIC) should be '2C'
#20. on three French Vedettes, (Ic), (IIC) and (IIIC) should be '1C,' '2C' and
'3C'
#21. Delete TWO French garrisons (total of 20 instead of 22)
#22. Make the Vistula Legion red, if possible.
#23. Change the Subordination Ratings of the following combat units from
[3] to [2]: Davout, Oudinot, Ney, Eugene and St. Cyr. Thus their
ratings will be 9-5-2 instead of 9-5-3 (St. Cyr will be 5-5-2).
#24. Change Napoleon's Command Span to 12 (not 10) = 5[4]12
#25. Eugene's Leader ratings should be 3[3]6
#26. Barclay's Leader ratings should be 4[3]9
#27. Bessieres unit type is CAVALRY (not infantry)!
#28. Add one Combat Bonus star each to leaders: Napoleon, Bagration, Barclay, Davout, Ney.
#29. On the flags of _all_ the counters, take out the names 'Russia,' 'France'.
#30. Add two Russian Garrisons for Kiev and Dorogobuzh & delete Kovno garrison.
#31. Change maximum strength of Latour and Grouchy to 2 (not 4) = 2-6-1
#32. Delete Polish Brigade Kosinski.
#33. Change Yermalov's command span to 5 (not 4)
#34. Remove letter 'P' and add names for Pol. March Divs: Bronikowski, Kosezki.

Mark, Use "the distance between (a) the Center of Operations and (b) an active Depot with an LOC, or the active Supply Source."

Thanks for the quick answers, Kevin. We're getting deeper into the game and have the following additional questions:
1. Can Vedettes move in either the Movement Command phase or the Initiative phase (assume yes), or is there a specific point they are all supposed to move?
A) The Initiative Phase.
2. Do Vedettes ever need to check for attrition (assume no)?
A) No (but you can do a check for disinformation purposes).
3. Can Vedettes damage/repair bridges (assume no)?
A) No.
4. What is the Forage Value of provinces not listed in the rules or charts (e.g. Prussia, Duchy of Warsaw, Volhynia, etc.)?
A) Prussia [2]; Warsaw [2]; Vilna [1]; Volhynia [2].
5. The Exclusive Rules say Bridges are damaged/repaired during the friendly Movement Phase. If this is so, what happens during the "Bridge Segment" set forth on the map and in the Sequence of Play?
A) ?

Thanks again, Kevin.
I assume your "?" in reply to question 5 above means you don't understand the question. Basically, it's a matter of timing. The rules state that you must expend MP's to damage/repair bridges. However, there's this "Bridging Segment" that occurs at the very end of the Movement Phase, after all units have moved. I guess I'm looking for guidance on when, exactly, are bridges repaired/damaged: When the unit expends MP's during their actual movement, or later in the Bridging Segment? If not the latter, what is the purpose of the Bridging Segment?
After reading some posts on Consimworld concerning the use of Vedettes, I have some additional questions on their employment:
1. Are vedettes a "Force"? I assume not since they don't have a leader and attached combat unit as per the definition of "Force".
A) You are right about that (see Standard rules para. [77.]) However note also Exclusive para [71.]
2. Can multiple vedettes stack in a hex (assume yes since their setup appears to allow this -- "no more than two vedettes" in a hex with a Force placed on the map)?
A) We have changed this- originally we allowed more than one vedette per hex, but it is much cleaner to limit vedettes to one per hex. So stacked vedettes must displace.
3. Can multiple vedettes in a stack attack a hex together w/o a leader? Can multiple vedettes adjacent to an enemy hex attack together w/o a leader? Can a leader command multiple vedettes and, if so, where do they go on the organization display?
A) No to all three. EXCEPTION: Platov (Exclusive, para [72.])
4. If eliminated for any reason, and they go back to the pool, can vedettes be placed on the map on an existing Force the next turn? Or must they await the creation of a new force? (The rules do not appear to specify clearly how and when vedettes are placed on the map after the scenario start.)
A) Vedettes that are forced to retreat are placed on the Organization Display on an existing Force within 9 MPs. See [79.]
5. You replied in another thread under this topic that Vedettes and Partisans may be "eliminated" as a result of "Repulse". Can you expound on this? I see nothing in the Vedette or Repulse rules that suggest Vedettes or other units can be eliminated through Repulse, only that the Repulsed unit continues to retreat. (Note: Given that they're only 1/2 SP, they are VERY costly to attack in regular battle, and one is likely to lose more SP's than an overwhelmed Vedette should the Vedette elect to stand its ground rather than retreat before combat -- especially onerous since they can apparently be replaced immediately in the owning player's next turn!) Regards, Mark
A) If there is no friendly force within 9 MPs, by a path free of enemy units, or if they are French and within the Severe area on the map, then they are permanently eliminated. A Repulsed vedette is considered to have been "forced to retreat" per [79.]
Finally, there is the "Minimum Combat Losses" rule, Standard para. [205.] "The losing side always loses at least as many SPs as the winning side." (Round up in the case of a lone vedette.)
I wouldn't spend a lot of time or energy trying to chase down enemy vedettes. It is hard to get rid of them, but on the other hand, they can't really hurt you. (Partisans can cut the LOC, but they are also permanently eliminated.)

Hi Mark,
I hope that you have the Q&A sheet. It says this about the bridging segment.
[49.] and [142.] (clarification) There is indeed a Bridge Segment in HtK. Announce your intention to build the bridge during movement. Construction is considered to be finished by the time of the bridge segment. (Since the MPs expended merely represent the time the troops have to spend waiting for the bridge to be completed, and not distance covered, they do not count toward attrition.)
I will post the Q&A file elsewhere on the discussion board...
I will answer the other questions within the text above...

Hi Mark,
I want to post all these in one place so folks will know what's available. You can download the file of Q&A from this page. If you pre-ordered you didn't get this sheet with your copy.
