Getting but one response, I thought that perhaps part of the problem here may have been that this was buried in the "message stacks" where it couldn't be found, but by accident. So, I'm re-posting with it's own headline to grab attention.
>>After Bonaparte's adventures in Italy, I always found the events of the Hundred Days interesting. Thus, the game I've gone onto after BII was "The Emperor Returns". There's very few game specific rules in this one and it's almost a direct import from the rest of the system. In otherwords, the rules are easy.
However, I found that the effort Clash of Arms went to with the counters was less than minimal. The artwork itself was adequate, but certainly no where near the equal of, say for instance Jena or Sun of Austerlitz. And worse yet, the quality of the material itself was absolutely horrible. My countersheet is more wavy than the Atlantic on a stormy day. They're terribly warped. Counter thickness is nearly paper thin, which contributed to warpage. The counters were altogether a botched job, someone should have had a boot planted for even supposing the materials were adequate to the task, let alone approving its use.
I make variant countersheets for a multitude of games, and it strikes me that this game desparately needs new counters. I do not copy what was done before. My counters do look different, and that's by design so people can't get upset about copyrights. Understanding that what I would make would necessarily look different, but function the same, would anyone like to have new counters for this game? Don't know what they would cost as yet. I haven't but just begun development of a set for myself. Still, I thought I'd ask to see if others wanted better counters for The Emperor Returns. (Or for that matter any other game and/or variant they might conceive needs such treatment.)<<
