You will be sad to see this. I am trying to discover a little more but I know Miguel will be glad of all the support he can get.
Yours Gerald*

Dear Mr Napier*
I hope you will remember me. My name is Miguel Martin Mas and I'm the founding president of an association devoted to the protection and promotion of the Arapiles battlefield. I'm sure you know that a highway is being built severing the battlefield, to be précised, the area were general Le Marchant led his Heavy Cavalry charge. But this is not all. They don't even respect the protected area, and they are building another road between Arapiles and Calvarrasa de Arriba that severs the two Arapiles hills. It is not only a problem of the visual impact but this road will connect to main roads (the one to Alba and the one to Cáceres) and heavy traffic is expected through this protected area what means also a danger for our visitors.*
We are trying to do our best to stop this, many people are supporting us and the politicians are really frightened. We need as much international pressure as possible: letters from scholars and institutions from the UK and whatever you can do for the protection of the place were the Duke achieved his finest victory. Could you please write a letter to be addressed to the politicians and published in the local newspapers?*
I can translate the letter if you prefer to write in English and afterwards I will let you know where you should send them. May you ask your colleagues to do the same? It's our last hope; the international pressure might be very effective.*
Please, help us, whatever you need in the future, take me for granted.*
Kind regards*
Miguel Martin Mas*
