hi, iīve just adquired a copy of the avalon hill game (1983), and after the first reading of the rules, it seem to be a great game, but i have an important question, how is it shown the quality of troops? does a SP of the guard fight as a "Marie Louise" recruit???

thanks in advance

There is a troop quality table in the middle of the charts and tables folder. Look at that.

Beren,

I used to have two copies of the old AH edition, but I just recently got rid of them. So we cannot answer questions about the AH edition anymore.

I can tell you where the charts are in the OSG Edition.

There is a four-page pull-out in the Exclusive Rules folder, starting on page 15.

It is labelled "CHARTS & TABLES" and right in the middle of this four pager is a table called the "Attack Effectiveness Table"

If you do not have that then you need to order the "Rules Set" for NAB at our store.

OK. Attack Effectiveness is not a part of the game in your edition.

I have The AH version, out in the storage room, with a set of the TSG rules in it. I also bought the OSG version. I'm pretty sure that "troop quality" is one of those changes that make the OSG version a harder "go" for the French.

Yes, sir, I played the first published version of this game down in the basement of my university's student union . Three coalition players, one who owned the game and Xeroxed the rules, working as a comittee and me trying to do as much damage as possible. Close but no cigar :(.

If you pick up a copy of AH's "War and Peace" you will notice certain similarities to the design. I don't know if Mr. KZ worked on that one, but the 1813 and Spain scenarios were the best :D. Sort of OSG extra light.;)
