To everyone's surprise, OSG never closed its doors!
That was different from my intention, but sometimes life has other plans in store for us. The first surprise was the outpouring of support and incredible volume of orders that came in when the closing announcement was made back in October '08. I spent the next six weeks working from 7 AM until 10 PM every day including weekends, packing and shipping with a full-time helper. We shipped over two tons of games in that time, and sent a hundred refunds for merchandise that we could not fulfill.
But then ... there were still lots of game components, just not any complete games. My intention had been to sell what I could and then landfill the rest. But I began to see that those components still had value, if I invested in printing the other parts needed to make complete games.
So that's what I did. OSG supported my transition to healing work, I rented an office with a Naturopath, took classes in Reiki, gave workshops... On Christmas Eve of 2008 I started writing "Inner Truth," and the book was published in July of '09. I started promoting the book, going to health fairs, etc.
Somewhere in 2009 I started looking around for other things to print and I hit upon SS Nr. 5, based upon four unpublished chapters written at the same time as SS Nrs. 2-4. I thought I'd fill that out with Orders of Battle and have a new product for a minimum time investment. Of course, the project began to grow and I ended up with a much larger book, at 160 pages. At the same time I was using the "1806" game to help me write the battle narratives (the original ms. contained no battle narratives for Jena or Auerstadt). But "1806" wasn't detailed enough for my purposes, I needed to scope it down, so I played around with modifying the map until it started to look like a "Last Battles" system game. I was well-steeped in 1806 by then so I figured, why not? Jason had been re-developing Four Lost Battles on his own initiative during 2009 and I was aware of his activities - it kept the pot simmering...
Anyway, it's great to be back! Thanks for your incredible support. It means a lot.
