As we prepare to print labels for shipping out TCS, we noted the game has garnered over 400 pre-orders (not counting the individual battle games)... an all-time high for OSG! Thank You.

Production Update
All the components - except the maps - are now at the printer. The rules are finished, as are the charts & tables and the player aid cards. The counters are die-cut and the card decks are made up and on their way back from the manufacturer. We have definitely scheduled the grand unveiling at OSG IHQ for the weekend of December 17th.

The maps are done and a team of 9 people are checking them over today. After they go to the printer we will need to see hard copy proofs to approve before printing next week. Then the printed sheets need to dry for 2 days before they can be folded and boxed up for shipment to OSG, by Friday the 17th (we hope!).

SPECIAL STUDY NR. 6
Progress

We are hard at work on the book. Production delays with The Coming Storm impacted on the book's schedule as well. I will be quite busy shipping games through the end of this month, and it could be February before we ship the book.

If you feel that our progress is too slow, that is understandable. In that case, please let us know and we will be happy to return your pre-order payment.

I have just added seven new situation maps. The artist is working on the maps and I am doing research. I need someone with a great OCR scanner to get in touch with me. When I get the full set of maps I will write the narrative with the maps in front of me.

Here is a preliminary sketch of the Table of Contents:

Chapter 1: From Hanau to the Rhine 6
Chapter 2: Diplomatic Maneuvering 12
Chapter 3: The Invasion of France 18
Chapter 4: The Campaign, Jan. 25-Feb 5 30
Chapter 5: Six Days of Glory, Feb. 6-12 40
Chapter 6: Feb. 13-25 50
Chapter 7: Feb. 26-Mar 7 60
Chapter 8, March 8-18 70
Chapter 9: 'til the end 80
Chapter 19: Adieu 90
Appendices: (28 pages) 100

The Coming Storm Update

We have sent out a few game sets for blind testing with gamers who haven't yet seen the game. One of our blind testers found 2 units that had 2 different set-ups at Pultusk. Thanks to Wojtek Kamusella...

22.21 French Set up at Pultusk
LC Vialanes is listed twice. He should be with Murat, not Davout.

22.22 Russian Set up at Pultusk
Tshepelev is also listed twice. He should be with Gallitzin, not Barclay.

Tshepelev had the Lifland Dragoons, Soumski and Grodno Hussars. Two squadrons of the Soumski hussars were with Gallitzin at Golymin. Where the remainder of Tshepelev's Brigade spent the day is unknown. Possibly it withdrew northward along with the 5th and 7th Divisions.

Counters: The Prussian Leader Alt Larisch should have a "6" instead of "M".

Great Thanks ...
It takes a large community to bring out a simulation of this detail. No game company could function well without the cadre of dedicated individuals who really are the heart of our hobby. Their contribution of time on a volunteer basis is very gratefully appreciated:

Mark James is our web admin keeping our website updated week after week.

Jay Olsen is our Mac expert who keeps the OSG computer up to date as well as performing difficult computer operations and data handling.

Jason Roach kept the fire going by continuing to refine the Four Lost Battles design during 2009. His great work became the stepping-off point for the development of "The Coming Storm."

Dick Vohlers invested one hundred hours in proofing the rules. Dick has honed his skill at ferreting-out inconsistencies, but also has an eye for improving presentation and for simplifying the ideas.

Most important, this game could not have been created without your confidence, sending in over 400 pre-orders that made all the foregoing possible (and letters like the following).

"Dear Kevin! First I want to give all my sincere Congratulations for your successful work the development of OSG. I remember back in 1978 and first article in "Moves" about "Nap at Bay" and I understood at once it was a true development of the state of the Art. (I have a Christmas photo from this time of myself sitting with THE GIFT the year: Nap at Bay). Today I think You are, together with Vance van Borries, the most serious and interesting game designer in conflict simulations. I wish you all luck and energy for all further projects!"
