OSG REPORT / JANUARY
Ziploc Edition of 1806
Please visit our store for this incredible offer (available now). 1806 is a great game with beautiful maps by Joe Youst. You can view the product and current Q&A at http://www.napoleongames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=492
(See also "Updating 1806" on page 3.)
Background: For our first two games we printed 2,000 units each. However, in 1998 the distribution network started to implode. With our third title we reduced printings to 1,500. The result is we have a quantity of unboxed copies of 1806 for sale in ziploc at a discount of 75%-off the retail price (the boxed version remains available). La Guerre de l'Empereur, our third title, (the first with a print run of 1,500) is now down to fewer than 10 copies on the shelf.
Counter Sleds
We have been asked to make these wooden counter holders available for sale, but we need to gauge demand before placing our initial order. Please see discussion and photo http://www.napoleongames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75&page=1&pp=10
Publication Plans
Four Lost Battles (the 1813 Quad) has been announced as our next publication. We are seriously considering going to press with TWO games at once this year. The second game would be the Bonaparte in Italy Expansion. Both of the new games need further playtesting before final publication.

Convention Fever
Zuckerpalooza / Adamarama
We have made initial contacts with Wagner College, on Staten Island, New York, regarding hosting a gaming weekend sometime in the next year. We had to drop plans for July 8-9-10 because of pressing commitments. We'd like to hear from you if you are interested in attending an event on Staten Is.
Origins 2005 (June 29 - July 2)
Mr. Zucker's Seminars in the War College are as follows. Room and Schedules haven't been announced.
1. Proposed Invasion of England, 1805
Could Napoleon have conquered Britain? A look at Moral, Political, Naval and Military aspects. Can we assume Wellington would have been withdrawn from Spain to command? (1.5 hrs.)
2. Exit Strategy (see attached word file: scroll down to "Attached Files")
A non-political look at the logistics of withdrawal for U.S. and Coalition forces in Iraq. If politicians decide on a rather sudden withdrawal, is Centcom ready? (1:30)
3. Rating the Leaders
Initiative, Command Ratings, and Subordination: Who can judge subjectively? We can only take a look at actual job performance. Why just these three categories? Inspiration and other measures are a part of it. (1 hr., 30 min.)
4. Battles of 1812
A statistical look at the battles of the Russian campaign, comparing numbers of men engaged, and lost, in each of the 94 battles, combats, and skirmishes of 1812. Project will be to plot all these, and look for patterns. (90 minutes.)

The Historical Battle of Ligny in terms of the Campaigns of Napoleon CRT.
Analysis by Guillaume Daudin, originally published in issue no. 6 of Wargame Design Magazine.
The question arose, whether the results provided by the NAB-Series CRT would match the results from a really large Pitched Battle. Because of the way the CRT evolved, we knew it could represent accurately the smaller, one-round battles. But we never did a study like the following. It took us a while to develop exactly how to represent the battle, and which forces should be engaged on each side.

Updating 1806
You can use the Seven Days of 1809 rules set when playing 1806: Rossbach Avenged. However, the Initiative ratings in 1806 have a different basis and so a modification will be necessary if you intend to use the Optional Exchange rule in the 1806 game.
Initiative conversions for 1806
When using the 7d09 rules for 1806, the following modifiers apply to the Initiative Ratings printed on the unit counters when using the optional Exchange table, and when recovering units during daylight turns:
Prussian Infantry -1 Initiative
Saxon Infantry -2 Initiative
French Guard Infantry +2 Initiative
All Other Units (No Modifier)
Official Q&A on Seven Days of 1809
We have collected all the Q&A into one quick reference, posted on 1/20/2005

Four Lost Battles Development
The Battlefield of Kulm has provided a mystery. We are now designing the third completely new prototype map for this battle game. Source material was scarce at first, but we have been helped a lot by volunteer researchers Michel Lepetit and Jeff Moore. Jeff has provided us with a CD copy of "Die Kriege von 1792 bis 1815 in Europa un Aegypten. Schlacten-Atlas von 1792-1815." That will provide the source map for our Kulm battle game. Once this map is completed we will send out playtest kits.
